The Childhood of T.R. Miller, Cartoonist

A True Personal Experience

T.R. MILLER was born during the 1960s in New Jersey to a mother, father, and two older brothers. He lived in Edison, New Jersey his first six years and then his family moved to East Brunswick, New Jersey. When he was 12 years old, his mother and biological father got divorced. His mother remarried a man named Mr. Miller. T.R. MILLER's biological father did not continue his required visitation and also did not pay child support. Thus, T.R. MILLER was being raised and financially supported by Mr. Miller.

At 16 years old, T.R. MILLER was adopted by Mr. Miller, his mother's second husband, and dedicated his cartooning career to the man who raised and adopted him. His biological father never paid his mother the thousands of dollars he owed T.R.'s mother, and never accepted responsibility for his children.

T.R.'s adoption, which took place in East Brunswick many years ago, proved that a parent is one who loves, raises, cares for, and is responsible for a child, even if it is not the biological parent. In my case, my father is Mr. Miller, and although he was an adoptive father to me, he remains my real father, as it appears on my birth certificate. My biological father will be remembered as an uncaring, dead-beat not responsible man who my mother unfortunately married before I was born.

Though the years have been kind to me — my mother's second marriage to my adoptive father, Mr. Miller, did not work out. It ended in divorce. But, my mother got married for a third time. So far, everything is alright.

Although I was raised and adopted by a Mr. Miller, my mother's second husband — a man who raised me from the time I was 12 to 18 years old — my childhood was filled with many happy times. As a child of divorce and adoption — my childhood was still a fun, cheerful, and beautiful time for me. And I'm happy to share "The Childhood of T.R. Miller, Cartoonist" with you.
