Sept. 16, 1966; Interview #3
WB: Since you own two dogs — Luhey and Willy — why don't you have two cartoons? Or why isn't Willy featured more often in "Luhey?"

TRM: Willy doesn't have his own cartoon because it's easier for me to concentrate on one main character!

WB: Do you have a lot of friends? What kind of people are they?

TRM: I don't have any friends! My relatives are my best friends!

WB: What is your favorite comic strip (besides "Luhey," of course)?

TRM: I like a lot of comic strips. I'm not sure if I have any favorites.

WB: Well then, what makes you laugh out loud?

TRM: What makes me laugh out loud are everyday things during the course of the day! (By way of example, at that very moment Willy, the maltese, walked over to the doorway of the atrium and made a small, worm-laden "deposit." Upon noticing this, T.R. started laughing hysterically).

WB: Are there any other famous artists or cartoonists in the Miller family? If so, please tell me about them.

TRM: My aunt was a very talented painter and did wonderful collages. She never made it as far as fame and fortune…but she had her paintings on display.

WB: Since you yourself are a noted artist, what do you think of Picasso? Who is your favorite artist of all time?

TRM: I think Picasso was a great talent! I know that he was probably the most loved artist of all times! I liked "Grandma Moses" folk paintings from the 1960's time period! She started painting at age 78, and lived to 100 years old. (TR is getting quite animated at this point, breathing heavily and rubbing his right hand in a circular motion against the arm of his Louis XVII couch). Most of her best paintings were done when she was in her 80's! Amazin'! Her winter seasonal oil paintings were my favorite. She was born Anna Marie Robertson! How's that for an arts tidbit!!!!

WB: Wow; that really is amazin;' I had no idea! So do you ever intend to market or license the Luhey image and provide the world with merchandise such as Luhey T-shirts, bumper stickers, posters— things like that?

TRM: I have no plans to make Luhey merchandise or any business venture.

WB: What are your favorite TV shows and programs?

TRM: My favorite TV shows to watch are cable horror movies, made-for-TV movies on regular channels, the news; especially CNN, and ESPN boxing!

WB: Let's say that David Letterman invited you to appear on the Late Show. Would you agree to appear?

TRM: If, David Letterman wanted to feature me on his show as T.R. Miller (Cartoonist), I'd be glad to appear.

WB: What is your favorite food?

TRM: My favorite meal is chinese food, ziti & meatballs, frosted flakes for breakfast,....those are some of my top choices!

WB: Speaking of Chinese food, did you know that people in parts of Asia actually EAT dog meat as a part of their diet?

TRM: (Now his face becomes contorted and pasty; his breathing labored and his left eyelid twitches spastically. Nevertheless, he speaks calmly, feigning nonchalance)
I didn't know that people in certain places in the world ate dog meat. That's quite unusual.

WB: Do you have any predictions for the upcoming new year of 1997? If so, what are they?

TRM: I think 1997 will be a very fascinating year. I hope that I am featured in your magazine as a cartoonist and that your readers enjoy my Luhey cartoons and the interview part, also.
